November 2023 Writing Update

November 5 2023

Like the title says, this is just an update about what I'm writing this November.

First, let's go over National Novel Writing Month (called NaNoWriMo) which takes place over November each year. It's a challenge to write 50,000 words in 30 days (Which comes out to about 1,667 words per day). I started participating in it in 2019 and actually completed the challenge the first 3 years. Each of those times, all the writing I did during the month was part of a single storyline. It was tough but rewarding, and helped me get into the habit of writing.

In 2021, while writing for my third NaNoWriMo, I decided that it would be the last time for me, for multiple reasons. Last year I did not participate, but still made an attempt at writing around 1,000 words per day. None of it was connected to anything else, I just didn't want to not write anything.

This November, I'm not seriously participating in the challenge, but I am trying to write 4 short stories (which might end up being one story); each of them over the course of a week, where one day is for planning, followed by 6 days of writing (1,000 words per day).

This also means that I might not post here for the rest of the month, and even if I do, it might just be more updates like this one. That's about it. If I don't come back here this month, I'll return in December!
